Ofsted Inspection

Our school was last inspected by Ofsted in July 2012. We were delighted that the inspection team found that St. Mark’s is an outstanding school in all areas.

Some of the highlights of the inspection report include:

  • This is an outstanding school. It has improved from satisfactory in its last inspection because of the expertise and commitment of senior leaders and the drive and determination of governors to provide the best possible education for pupils. Consequently, all pupils enjoy school and make excellent progress.
  • Achievement is outstanding throughout the school.
  • Teachers constantly strive to provide inspiring learning experiences and magical moments in lessons to fully engage pupils and foster an enjoyment of learning.
  • Behaviour and safety are outstanding. Excellent behaviour in lessons ensures that there is invariably a calm purposeful atmosphere for learning.
  • The school has an excellent capacity to go on improving.

Religious Education Inspection

As a Catholic school we were also subject to a Section 48 Inspection.

Our last RE Inspection was conducted by the Archdiocese of Birmingham in May 2017 when we were deemed to be outstanding. Highlights of the report include:

  • The Catholic life of the school is outstanding.
  • Prayer is at the heart of this school and it has enabled the parish and school community to continually support each other through a very difficult tragedy.
  • The senior leadership team and governors support and develop the staff so that this school can enable each child to reach their potential in RE and grow in faith.
  • St Mark’s school stands out as a beacon of light so that all who are there are inspired to realise their vocation to follow Christ as a disciple in today’s world.
  • St Mark’s enables pupils to have the confidence to lead different forms of prayer and liturgy.
  • One of St Mark’s special strengths is the very high standard of RE and literacy.
